Prepared By:

Background of Issue:

Attached are properties that have requested a a property tax abatement for September, October, November and December of 2019 due to flooding.  Minnehaha County has requested the City of Dell Rapids provide approval for four properties that have requested property tax abatement. The property tax abatement is for the months of September, October, November and December of 2019 following flood damages that made the homes uninhabitable. The properties are as follows; 105 Ladelle in the amount of $365.57, 401 E 1st St in the amount of $356.87, 405 E 1st St in the amount of $481.59 and 104 Orleans Ave in the amount of $280.42. These tax amounts are inclusive of abatement for all property taxes combined (School District, County, City, etc...).  All properties requesting the property tax abatement are included in the FEMA Property Acquisition program currently under processing.

Recommendation:

Recommend the Council approve the property tax abatements as listed due to the flood damages that occurred in the fall of 2019 making the properties uninhabitable.

Respectfully submitted,

Justin Weiland
