Attached is the list of recipients of the DOT Community Access Grant. The City applied for a DOT Community Access Grant to assist with the funding of the proposed re-surfacing of Old 77 from 4th Street to 15th Street. The City applied for the maximum grant of $600,000. The total project estimate is $1.8 million. As can be seen on the award recipient list the City was not successful in receiving the Community Access Grant.
This project was originally budgeted for construction in 2020. The City opted to attempt application for a CA grant to fund the project, therefore pushing back the project to 2021. The 2021 budget included receiving a grant to fund a portion of the Old 77 overlay project. City Administration will plan to analyze the City's position for continuing to move forward with the project by utilizing the 2021 budgeted amount combined with City reserve funds. The Council has committed the usage of City reserves to fund the Old 77 overlay project. With the usage of reserve funds to pay off waste water debt, Finance Officer Baartman and Administrator Weiland will analyze the reserve funds and the current 2021 budget to determine the best approach to the Old 77 Overlay project. The City is continuing to move forward with plans to have DGR finalize design and plan for bidding the project in the spring of 2021.
